"Big Buddies" at LCA
The "Big Buddies" program at LCA is a new
addition to the school. All students in grades 6-8 are assigned to
one or several Pre-K, Kindergarten, and first grade students.
These students meet together approximately 2 times per month for 40
minutes. Older students do a variety of activities with younger
students to reinforce their learning. Students read together, count
objects, practice math facts, sort shapes and colors, etc...
Everyone seems to enjoy the time together. The younger students look
forward to seeing their "big buddy". The older students don't
readily admit it, but we know they are enjoying it, too. This
program helps create a real sense of community and teaches
leadership skills to the middle school students.
