Chapel

Ask the beasts and they shall teach thee…”

On August 25, elementary students enjoyed a visit from some rather unusual guests during chapel.  Mike and Judie Kane (they weren’t the unusual guests) brought Goliath the Burmese python, Timothy the Terrapin, and Casia the ferret to visit LCA.  Mike and Judie are the founders of the Kuriakos Nature Center.  “Kuriakos” is a Greek word meaning “belonging to the Lord.”  Mike and Judie used these animals to teach students important Biblical lessons.

Approximately once a month, students in grades 6-8 meet in small Bible study groups during the chapel hour.  Students are studying the book of James with a faculty member.

Each group is also responsible for planning and presenting a message for students in the elementary school.  Mrs. Cole and Mrs. Reasnor combined their groups for their ministry assignment and presented two Veggie Tales Productions.  In October students taught important lessons about selfishness through their performance of “King George and the Ducky”.  Then in December students presented their interpretation of “The Ballad of Little Joe” for the elementary students.  The presentation taught students that bad things do happen to Christians, however God always works through these things for our good.  Elementary students enjoyed the presentations and middle school students had a great time ministering to them.

Bob and Larry try to answer the question “Why do bad things happen to good people?”

The Veggie Boys performed “The

Belly Button Song” during intermission.
