The Junior High School Lady Eagles of Life Christian Academy captured the Oklahoma Christian Schools State Class B Volleyball Tournament on October 6 at the Community Christian School Gymnasium in Moore, Oklahoma. On their way to a perfect day, in which they did not lose a single set, the Lady Eagles avenged regular season losses to both Liberty Baptist Academy of Shawnee and Grace Christian School of Tulsa! Led by Britney Montgomery and Captain Larissa Runyan, both of whom earned “All Tournament Team” honors, the Lady Eagles soared to the top of the bracket to claim the first Junior High Volleyball State Championship in school history! Said Coach Donna Bear, “This year’s team was greatly improved over last years, this gives us even more reason to have great expectations for next year’s team!”
Indeed, the Lady Eagles lose only 4 eighth graders and will return a nucleus of experienced players.
Said Coach Andrew Mericle, “Being Champions is something we talked about all through the year, clear back to the first day of practice August 6th. We visualized and formed expectations of becoming State Champions and this was our motive for everything we did the entire season.”
